ADVANTAGES WITH PLASTIC
Plastics have many advantages and are used in a variety of industries and contexts due to their unique properties. There are around 700 different types of plastics and these can be divided into 18 different polymer families.
The versatile properties of plastics, such as lightness, flexibility and cost-effectiveness, make them suitable for the manufacture of both high-tech products and everyday goods.
LOW DENSITY (low weight)
Plastic is light in weight, making it easy to handle and transport. This is particularly beneficial in the packaging industry and in the transportation sector.
NO CORROSION
Plastic does not corrode!
LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
In manufacturing and recycling, only about 250-300 degrees C are required to melt plastics compared to metal and stainless steel which require about 1500 degrees C.
INSULATION PROPERTIES
Plastics have good sound insulation properties and are often used in buildings to also reduce heat transfer and save energy.
COST-EFFECTIVE MANUFACTURING
Plastic is usually cheaper to produce than many other materials, making it economically advantageous in a wide range of applications for different industries.
SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES
Research and development in the plastics industry has led to advances in recyclable and biodegradable plastic materials.
